Background and Expertise

About

A health communication specialist, Dr. Jennifer B. Gray is a graduate of the University of Kentucky’s nationally respected doctoral program in communication. She teaches in Appalachian State University’s Department of Communication where she is developing courses in health communication. Her research and teaching interests center on various aspects of health communication in women’s health and diet and exercise, including message design in health behavior change, health education, communication and medical education/training, patient-provider communication, and health presentations in the media.

Prior to her career at Appalachian, Gray taught writing and communication at community colleges and worked as a medical editor and medical public relations professional. In addition to her doctorate, she also holds a graduate certificate in medical behavioral science from the University of Kentucky.
