About
Dr. Twila Wingrove is a legal psychologist at Appalachian State University with research interests in legal decision-making, perceptions of justice and sexual asssault in the legal system. She holds both the J.D. professional degree in law and a Ph.D. in psychology. Her research has focused on foster care from the perspective of children and teacher-student sexual contact. She received National Science Foundation support in 2012 to investigate children’s reasoning regarding their procedural treatment by authority figures. She was co-editor of the book “Psychology, Law, and the Wellbeing of Children,” published by Oxford University Press in 2014. Her current work focuses on jury decision-making in sexual assault cases.
In April 2018, she was named director of research design and analysis in App State's Office of Research and Innovation
