Background and Expertise

About

Lisl Kuutti enjoys an administrative career combining elements of music, writing and art — all driven by a passion to share the energy and broad appeal of the arts. Whether in a large concert hall or at a gig at a private home, her presentations involve engaging storytelling, a touch of humor and entry points for audiences of all experience levels.

At Appalachian State University, Kuutti is the Community Engagement Specialist for the Hayes School of Music, managing the aspects of the school that connect with the public, including marketing and communications and Cannon Music Camp.

Kuutti plays cello regularly for weddings and events in the High Country, Charlotte and Asheville areas. She has performed as a soloist with orchestra and given solo recitals in the U.S. and Japan. In addition, she has taught cello and English lessons, sold and exhibited original artwork and drawn a 100-issue webcomic series.

A Boone resident originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, Kuutti earned a Master of Music in Cello Performance from App State and a B.A. in Music and Art from Furman University.
